As predicted, WordPress released version 4.2 (a major release) but it was right after a minor release dealing with security was issued. It was smart of them to do it like this because most websites have automatic upgrades enabled for minor releases and they got the important security release.
The new WordPress version has some new features dealing with communication and simplicity. We're seeing some nice improvements come out, which tells us that the WordPress team is on the right track to remain the leading CMS/blogging software.
WordPress 4.2 “Powell” (wordpress.org)
Version 4.2 of WordPress, named “Powell” in honor of jazz pianist Bud Powell, is available for download or update in your WordPress dashboard. New features in 4.2 help you communicate and share, globally.
You, of course, get the 4.1.2 security update along with version 4.2.
We're waiting a few days to see if there will be a 4.2.1 version come out but we don't expect there will be.
