This is what I used to say to people that asked about SEO:
"If it were easy to make a website that ranked well, then everyone would do it. If everyone was doing, then it wouldn't be so easy to rank well, right?"
That's still true except that it's not so easy anymore and it's because there are so many websites.
I saw a good article recently that sums up good website design pretty well:
SEO basics: 22 essentials you need for optimizing your site (searchenginewatch.com)
They list 22 things... 22 things!
Each item is pretty huge, too.
Basically, if you're choosing an online website builder for your website or if you're using cheap website design, how many of those 22 things do you think you're covering? And creating a good website has less and less to do with which tool you use, too. Let me explain...
Creating a good website now isn't all that difficult. There are lots of details that must be done correctly so that websites work well across all devices. Companies that create websites are all over the place.
It's 2016 now, we're beyond the novelty of the Web. It's time to roll up your sleeves and get a website that actually provides return on investment. You need good calls to action with varying levels. You need content that tells your story the best way possible. You need a website that converts traffic (visitors) into customers or leads.
Yes, there are 22 great things (or more) that you need for your website to stand a chance. But what about once you rank well? Or what about the traffic you're already getting? Are those website vistors turning into leads or customers?
Do you think 2016 is time for your website to take the next step and really start working for your business?
