We get these requests all the time – people contact us and need help getting their website fixed. That’s exactly what we do. We simply call it “website maintenance” since that can cover many things… including website repair.

What is Website Repair?

Like “website maintenance,” website repair can mean a lot of things. Basically, something’s wrong with your website and you need it fixed. It can be about anything but just realize that your website is comprised of a few layers:

• Your domain name
• Your hosting
• Your website files

What we mainly do is the last item – your website files. If you have problems with your website hosting, you should first talk with your host. If there’s a problem with your domain name, then contact your domain name registrar.

We do understand that all of these things are connected and sometimes you don’t know which one it is. Sometimes it’s even all 3 things… we get that. We just wanted to explain here that there are separate things and the solution to fixing your website might be one of these things and it might also be a combination of all of these things. Sometimes it’ll be something we can’t fix and we’ll ask you to contact your website host or your domain registrar.

The main thing you really need is someone to go in and look at things so that you know what steps to take next. Getting an expert to look at your website is the most important thing right now if your website isn’t working.

What we do is start at the domain name level and make sure that’s working (registration is valid, etc.). We then check your DNS and hosting. Maybe there’s a problem there. The next item in the chain are the files on your website. From there, it might be a database issue or coding issue. It may even be a problem with a web browser that’s being used. Our main point here is that it’s kind of like a needle in a haystack and if you don’t have an expert checking things out, you’re probably searching for that needle in the wrong part of the haystack.

Who Are You?

My name is Tony Herman and we’re based out of Madison, WI. As mentioned, we’ve been doing website design as Webstix since 2001 and I’ve been doing web design since 1994. I had one of the very first websites on the web. It was called “The Background Deli” and it was a collection of background images for use on websites (ones I collected and made) since background images were all the rage back then. I had 2 jobs doing website design before we started Webstix and we’ve been at it ever since.

My passion is marketing and SEO but I do love to get my hands into some code whenever I can still. Our team is trained by myself and others. They communicate well and follow set procedures to help you get your problems fixed. They are also really good at improvising and coming up with new solutions on the fly. They do great work.

What’s Next?

If you’re a new client, we have a special offer for you, so take advantage of that. You can sign up for 1 hour (2 blocks) or 2 hours (4 blocks) at a very discounted rate. Each Maintenance “Block” is a half hour of time.

Us looking at a website is kind of like a mechanic looking at a car. This isn’t the best analogy but it works… we need to get the key (your FTP login and hosting control panel login, etc.) and pop the hood and take a look around. Doing that takes time, so we have to charge for it and that’s one of the main reasons we give new clients an amazing deal to get started. We then get you a quote and tell you how much time we’ve used already. You can decided to go ahead with that or not – but, at the very least, you’ll have a good idea of what needs to be done – a diagnosis, if you will. That’s worth quite a bit – just knowing what’s wrong and what needs to be done.
